Emily Hlavac Green | BIO < back to artists

Emily is a freelance photographer currently spending time between New Zealand and New York, with many adventures in between.

Emily’s imaginative approach and desire to tell stories play a key role in her photography. She likes to think of images as non-static scenes or allegories; present moments that have a past and future. Often shooting with a cinematic context in mind, in hope that a photo can surround and intrigue, and invite curiosity. Emily applies this across personal and commercial projects to see possibility in the interplay between shadow and light in the images she creates.

While people are integral, and often the focus of her work, the relationship between her subjects and the environment is a powerful theme throughout her work. This exploration of environment continues to take her on new adventures, most recently China, Japan and the United States, as well as seeking out the unique light and natural backdrops New Zealand has to offer.
