Artist Bio:

Born in New Plymouth 1972, upon leaving School in 1991 I served a Carpentry apprenticeship and also developed woodworking skills in my own time.

In 1995 I moved to Wanaka, drawn by the beauty of the South.

In 1997 I felt compelled to put my Carpentry tools aside and teach myself to carve bone, with just the bare minimum tools. As my tools and abilities grew I began to expand into shell and stone (Pounamu, Argillite).

I marketed high quality pendants with attention to the details and finish. I soon sold my pieces at Te papa, Auckland war memorial museum, statements gallery Napier, among several other galleries.

My passion for larger stone sculpture developed naturally as my abilities evolved and once I discovered the quality of stone surrounding us here in the south. over the years I transitioned my work into bigger pieces, displaying and exhibiting in Gallery 33 Wanaka and selling numerous private commissions. First group exhibition, ‘object in mind’ Gallery 33, 2008, First solo exhibition, ‘Fruit of the faults’ at Aigantighe Gallery (Timaru Public Art Gallery), 2014,

Received arts grant from Creative NZ 2014.

I now live in Luggate with my Wife Amelia and my 3 Daughters, working full time on my sculpture.
