ELLIOT LOVE | BIO < back to artists

Selft-taught, emerging artist Elliot Love has lived in Dunedin since the age of four.

Love painted throughout his high school years, however found himself concentrating more on science & maths in his final year at school.  After a gap year in 2015, Elliot studied Physical Education for a year at Otago University, but after visiting Tim Wilsons' gallery in Queenstown - felt inspired again and was drawn back into his love of painting.

He spent a few months "dabbling" in landscapes before realising that his true interest lay in that of the 'urban landscape' - something he has been exploring ever since.   His love of cars from the 1980's and 90's are also portrayed as he tries to preserve a moment in time in his precisely observed, often very small original oils.

Elliots' current inspiration comes from the classic American photorealist painters of the 70's and 80's - Estes, Bechtle & Cone.
