Luke Hollis | BIO < back to artists

Not too long ago, Hollis decided to try his hand at painting. Portraiture was the order of the day and soon after he knew this was the start of a beautiful (albeit often painful) affair with oil based paint and mineral turpentine. Prior to this, romance had consisted of pencils and sketchpads, but this isn’t about tossing out the old for something a little younger and firmer, oh no graphite and 135g/m acid free paper is a love bound in history. Thanks to this introduction to paint another dimension has been added to that first love of his…translating his odd imaginings into drawings.
Hollis has now pursued his love of sketch work, portraiture, conceptual painting as well as having just taken up acrylic painting and photography.

Born in 1979, Bay of Plenty born Luke Hollis has now relocated to Auckland and continues a successful and full time career in painting.
