Biography

Alexandra Tylee is a talented painter who is inspired by moments that remind her to appreciate the peaceful, impermanent present.

Based in her Poukawa studio and garden, she creates gorgeously vibrant still life pieces. Whilst art was her first love, Alexandra established Fuel Espresso in Wellington, and Pipi Café in Greytown, Sydney, and Havelock North and is the author of three cookbooks along with a children’s storybook.

Art has always been a huge part of Alexandra’s life. Growing up on a Hawkes Bay farm, she’d find her own little hideaway to draw and paint for hours on end. Though life took her down various paths, after the sale of Pipi Café in late 2023, Alexandra returned to her roots and started to concentrate on painting again.

Today, she is known for her beautiful acrylic paintings that celebrate her passion for nature, colour and form.
